Herzlich Willkommen auf dieser Website über Rundturmkirchen. Diese sind in erster Linie eine normannische “Spezialität”, und die meisten findet man heute noch in England, in East Anglia, und hier insbesondere in Norfolk. Eine weitere Häufung auf dem Kontinent gibt es in Norddeutschland. Doch auch in anderen Ecken  Europas finden sich vereinzelt Kirchen mit rundem Turm. Die Kirchen sind nach Regionen sortiert, sollten Sie noch andere  Kirchen kennen, die nicht aufgeführt sind, freue ich mich natürlich über Ihre Information. Die Zeichnungen der Kirchen in Norfolk sind übrigens dem wunderschönen Buch “Round Tower Churches of Norfolk” von Dorothy Shreeve und Lyn Stylgoe entnommen, sie werden hier mit freundlicher Genehmigung der Autorinnen veröffentlicht. Natürlich sind wir weiter auf der Jagd nach den Kirchen, von denen wir aktuell noch keine Photos haben, so daß die Seite mit der Zeit immer größer werden wird.

Welcome to this website dedicated to Round Tower Churches. Being a norman “speciality”, they are found mainly in East Anglia, with the majority being in Norfolk. But there are examples in all corners of the World. The churches on this site are sorted by regions; Norfolk is divided into smaller areas due to the sheer number of churches to be found there. The drawings you will find in the Norfolk section are taken from the beautiful book “Round Tower Churches of Norfolk” by Dorothy Shreeve and Lyn Stilgoe, they are published with the kind permission of the authors.
